When it comes to Woodrow Wilson’s super utility man Connor Mollohan, it’s hard to say which is more old school, his game or his style.
The game was certainly leading until Tuesday when he took the field for the Flying Eagles wearing old-school style stirrup socks.
When team assistant Bobby Sanger asked Mollohan if he would wear them if he got a pair, Mollohan said he would.
Sanger delivered the socks and Mollohan, true to his word, wore them in the Flying Eagles game with Greenbrier East.
Mollohan played centerfield in the game, which Woodrow Wilson lost 16-5.
You have to get a lineup card to find where you might find Mollohan. He started in center Tuesday but a day prior, against Shady Spring, he started on the mound, played third base and also caught.
Mollohan reported that getting a couple innings behind the plate meant he had successfully played all nine positions during his career.
That was no surprise to coach Michael McKinney. He said he might try to give him a shot at playing all nine this season.
Mollohan is so old school he might even end up doing it in a game.
In stirrups.
