Peyton Gardinier, who is pulling double duty this fall as kicker for the football team, pulled two goals Tuesday to lead the Mavericks over Mercer Christian Tuesday.
Gardinier had the first goal in the match’s 20th minute to give the Mavericks the lead.
MCA’s MJ Patton had the equalizer in the 56th minute, off an assist from Micah Maurer.
But Gardinier scored the winner in the 76th minute to give the Mavericks the victory.
James Monroe (1-0-1) hosts Independence on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. MCA plays Kings Warriors the same day at 6 p.m.
