Some Scott Brown Boys game notes:
The game will be played at Shady Spring High School on Saturday, April 15.
Shady Spring coach Ronnie Olson will coach the C. Adam Toney Tire Class AAA-AA stars and will be joined by a Scott Brown Memorial Classic game record four players from the Tigers team that has appeared in three straight state championship games, winning in 2021.
The four have been the main cogs on a team that won a school-record 83 games (83-10) over the past four seasons, Braden Chapman (two-time first-team all-state captain who finished top three in voting for the Evans Award, state POY, twice), Cole Chapman (twice first team all-state and second team captain in 2023), Cam Manns (second team all-state) and Jaedan Holstein, a three-year starter.
Olson will be joined in the bench by his Shady Spring assistant Russ Jordan.
James Monroe coach Matt Sauvage returns and will bring three players from his back-to-back state championship team. He will also be joined by JM assistants Corey Miller and Todd Lusk.
Eli Allen was the Evans Award winner and averaged 21.2 points per game and was a three-team all-state first team performer, the last two seasons captaining the team. Also joining Sauvage are guards Collin Fox and Josh Burks.
Morgantown is led by the duo of Brody Davis and Cam Dansler, who were part of the Mohigan’s Class AAAA back-to-back state championship teams.
Allen and Davis are not only teammates for the game, but cousins, and Burks is Allen’s stepbrother.
Greater Beckley standout guard John Rose finished his career with over 1,000 points and he led the state in scoring this season at27.7 points per game.
Wyoming East’s Garrett Mitchell tied a school record with 39 points in game against Liberty Feb. 7. That tied the mark set by Jason Blankenship, who did it twice in 1998-99, the school’s first year of existence.
An all-star slam dunk contest and three-point shootout will be held after the girls’ all-star game which tips off a 2:30 p.m.
